When we feel as though we have lost something, we will try every place where we have been to find an object which was lost. In order for us to seek God, we must learn of how lost we are from God. As we mature in age, there will come a time when God will deal with our hearts. He will begin to woo us with his Holy Spirit of love. Only when we are broken and contrite for all of our sins will we begin to know who Jesus is. Then if we accept Jesus into our hearts, we become changed to live a life led by the Holy Spirit within us.
True life begins in us after Jesus has saved us from our sins, for we could do nothing without His mercy and grace upon us. Teaching ourselves to walk in a spirit filled life daily, will take daily walks in the word of God to learn of him. How do we seek God? Do we learn of His Spirit by walking in truth with Him? Do we desire to know God, or just have God give us blessings without ever knowing Him as our Lord? Seek with every fiber of thy heart to know Jesus intimately within thy heart, mind, body, Spirit and soul. To know someone intimately, we must first desire to be with them in an everyday walk, listening to what they have to tell us. If we desire to know God, then we must seek him daily, learning to desire Him as our greatest need.
A deep searching for truth brings about our seeking of God’s presence. We begin to desire to know who God is in ways we had not thought about before. We begin to want His Spirit of knowledge instead of man’s ways of knowledge. We begin to seek Him from a deep place within our heart, desiring to understand Him as our Lord. Jesus said to seek the kingdom of God first, then all these things will be added unto you. As we seek the kingdom of God, we begin to change what we desire to have on earth for it no longer matters, only things of God will begin to matter to us.
Hosea 10:12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. KJV
The meaning of fallow ground according by Easton’s Bible Dictionary on biblehub.com/topical/f/fallow-ground.com .The expression, “Break up your fallow ground” (Hosea 10:12; Jeremiah 4:3) means, “Do not sow your seed among thorns”, i.e., break off all your evil habits; clear your hearts of weeds, in order that they may be prepared for the seed of righteousness. Land was allowed to lie fallow that it might become more fruitful; but when in this condition, it soon became overgrown with thorns and weeds. The cultivator of the soil was careful to “break up” his fallow ground, i.e., to clear the field of weeds, before sowing seed in it. So says the prophet, “Break off your evil ways, repent of your sins, cease to do evil, and then the good seed of the word will have room to grow and bear fruit.”.
We need to break up our hearts to become fruitful for the Lord, as we seek to do His will of righteousness. As long as we allow weeds to grow in our hearts and minds of evil, then we cannot hear the truth of God even if seeking for it. Clear hearts and minds bring about stillness in order for us to know God. A still mind can hear the voice of God speaking clearly, while a busy mind looking for adventure of the next job,or pleasure of this world will not hear at all.
We should be fearing God in the deepest respect of our hearts, for God is to be reverenced above all things or persons in our lives. Teaching ourselves to follow God, is really just allowing God to teach us all things. We really cannot teach ourselves anything, for all knowledge comes from God. The worldly wisdom which is taught is sent from satan, trying to distract us from the wisdom of God as he leads us.
God is saying constantly turn from your wicked ways, do not handle or touch anything unclean, be ye a separated people, show thyself pure before me. We cannot do this without desiring God to keep us from all of these things. Only God can separate us from evil, for in Him we become a pure people.
Zephaniah 2:3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’s anger. KJV
God is to those who seek after him, the only desire of their heart. We should seek God with every fiber of our being to worship Him in Spirit and Truth of His Spirit. God’s Spirit knows His Spirit within us. The only way we can say we know God, is through and by His Son Jesus who is our Lord and Savior. Let us not grow weary of seeking the True word of God, or hearing God speak to us revealing in us His truth, through His Spirit which dwells in us. How do we seek God? Through prayer, through His word, through time spent with Him listening to all He has to say. God is personal to all who come seeking His truth and righteous love. He comes to us as we search diligently for His Spirit to walk therein.
Seek and we shall find, ask and we shall receive pressed down and overflowing blessings, knock and it shall be opened unto us wisdom of God’s understanding. How do we seek God, by living in the will of God, only then we can find how to please Him.
